Just like Chemistry, Physics is another of standalone course in high school, but the students start to be exposed to Physics concepts fairly early on in elementary school and then in more depth during certain chapters of the Science courses in middle school.

Tutoring in Los Angeles can be here for you and your child who needs help with Physics, either at a basic level of middle school science or going through the Regular Physics, Honors Physics or AP Physics. We have a large number of college students who ask for help with various college level courses of Physics or involving Physics concepts.

Physics is the natural science of matter, its components, its motion and behavior through space and time, as well as the study of energy and force.

Albert Einstein is one of the most famous people. Even though the majority of us know his name, very few are truly familiar and understand his investigations regarding the nature of light, the force of gravity and time. Physics is taught in high school for these curious minds and most of them will develop a life-long passion for Physics.

Here are several fun facts using physics concepts:

  1. Because of differences in gravity, a 200 pound person would only weigh 76 pounds on Mars.
  2. Electric eels can stun both predators and prey with electric shocks of around 500 volts.
  3. Sound travels at a speed of around 767 miles per hour (1,230 kilometres per hour).
  4. When traveling at 80 kilometres per hour (50 miles per hour), cars use around half of their fuel just to overcome wind resistance.
  5. Water can work against gravity, moving up narrow tubes in a process called capillary action.
  6. A magnifying glass uses the properties of a convex shaped lens to magnify an image, making it easier to see.
  7. Uranus is the only planet in our solar system that rolls on its side like a barrel, while Venus is the only planet that spins in the opposite direction to Earth.
  8. The fastest land animal in the world is the Cheetah, clocking a max speed of around 113 km per hour (70 mph).
  9. All of humanity could fit in a sugar cube. Because atoms are 99% empty space. A hydrogen atom, for example, is about 99.9999999999996% empty space.
  10. The sun's color changes while setting or rising due to a phenomenon called scattering. This means that shorter wavelengths of light scatter away, and only longer wavelengths of light reach our eyes. Resulting in a yellow-orange sunset.
