The TEAS means actually Test of Essential Academic Skills and it’s a standardized exam designed to evaluate the academic skills of candidates to nursing school and a passing score of TEAS is part of the application process.

Nursing is one of the “hot” careers with more than 100 areas of specialization and 180 available credentials. Healthcare industry is one of the most dynamic fields and there is a predicted shortage of nurses, as the Baby Boomers age and the need for health care grows.

The preparation for TEAS begins with the administration of a free assessment test, which is very similar to the official test administered by ATI. We correct the assessment test and we provide you with the scores. This assessment test of TEAS provide the basis of a personalized program that will cover the areas the candidate is struggling with and reinforce the topics the student needs assistance with.

We have tutors ready to help our students on all sections of the test, as it is structured for the TEAS 7 version that is currently offered:

  • The reading section has 45 questions out of which 5 are unscored and that need to be answered within 55 minutes. The section has 15 questions that cover Key ideas and details, 9 questions related to Craft and structure and 15 questions for Integration of knowledge and ideas.
  • The Mathematics section has 38 questions, out of which 4 are unscored and this section is limited to 57 minutes. There are 18 questions covering Numbers and Algebra and 16 questions related to Measurement and Data.
  • The Science section has 50 questions, but 6 of them are not scored. This section should be completed within 60 minutes. The content covered in this section refers to 18 questions of Human Anatomy and Physiology, 18 questions of Biology, 8 questions of Chemistry and 9 questions of Scientific Reasoning.
  • The English and Language Usage comprises of 37 questions, out of which 4 are not scored. Out of the ones scored, there are 12 questions dealing with Conventions of Standard English, 11 questions covering topics relevant to the Knowledge of Language and 10 questions that refer to Using Language and Vocabulary to Express Ideas in Writing.

The entire test takes 209 minutes to complete all 170 questions. The test answer choices are multiple choice, multiple select (select all that apply), fill in the blank, order response (put the answer in a sequence) and hot spots (identify the location of a specific place on a graph or image).

ATI, the TEAS test administrator offers multiple way to take the test:

  • TEAS online proctored by ATI
  • TEAS online proctored by an institution
  • TEAS in-person proctored by an institution
  • TEAS in-person proctored by PSI at a PSI Testing Center.
