ISEE is the most common standardized test for students applying for 2nd grade to 12th grade into private schools.
Tutoring in Los Angeles has qualified and trained tutors to help our students prepare for all levels of ISEE.
We first start by offering a free assessment test to all of our ISEE students. The test is very similar to the official test and administered in similar conditions. We offer the free evaluation so that the parents, the student, the agency and the tutor assigned have a clear image of the strengths and weaknesses of the student and also the basis of creating a personalized plan according to what the student needs.
This approach insures that the student receives the instruction they need and that the sessions are effective and efficient, targeting the areas that the student is struggling with and using more time to cover the content that the student needs additional explanation and practice.
Regularly, Tutoring in Los Angeles can send additional assessment tests, to evaluate the progress of the student and update the preparation plan and strategy.
Traditionally, the ISEE was administered for 3 levels: Lower – for ISEE candidates applying for 5th and 6th grade, Middle – for students applying for 7th, and 8th grade and Upper - for applicants pursuing 9th-12th grade.
More recently, ISEE became available in an ISEE primary level – differentiated for applicants intending to be accepted 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade of private schools.
The 2nd grade applicants need to complete 2 sections: Auditory/Reading Comprehension and Mathematics. The Reading Comprehension section is read by a narrator. The test takes 53 minutes.
The 3rd and 4th grade applicants need to complete the Reading Comprehension and Mathematics sections, by reading themselves the questions, with no technology assistance. The test lasts 54 minutes for 3rd grade ISEE applicants, and 60 minutes for 4th grade applicants. The test also includes an untimed writing section.
The lower level of ISEE is destined for 5th and 6th grade applicants and it is 2 hours and 20 minutes long.
The middle ISEE for candidates for 7th and 8th grade and the Upper ISEE for 9th to 12th grade are 2 hours and 40 minutes long.
The Middle ISEE and Upper ISEE has the same sections, but with an increased number of questions and level of difficulty for the Upper ISEE compared to the Middle ISEE.
