Since the majority of the written work is done on computers, and the computers have spell-checkers, why do we need to learn spelling rules in school?

Correct spelling is essential in communicating and understanding communication. There are many examples where one wrong letter changes the meaning of the whole sentence and the result can be sometimes hilarious, but sometimes can be tragic.

Studies show that many job applicants have been rejected because of poorly spelled applications and that transposes into lost opportunities that may influence the whole life of the applicant in question.

As an aspect of literacy, along with reading and writing, students are expected to learn correct spelling so that they are successful in their efforts to articulate words, read, comprehend the language and sustain attention and concentration.

Tutoring in Los Angeles can help your student improve their spelling skills, building phonological awareness skills, develop their sound to letter association, understand the differences between vowels and consonants and between long and short vowels.

The tutor will incorporate the spelling lessons during English Language Arts tutoring sessions or work on developing spelling skills exclusively, if the focus is primarily on improving spelling skills.

Spelling words in English may be tricky and our tutors are here to help, English ahs 26 letters, 45 sounds and more than 250 ways to spell these sounds. For example, the spelling of the vowel U can be EW (dew), O (do), UI(fruit), OU (soup), OO (loop), U_E (lube), and UE (due).

I take it you already know

I take it you already know
Of tough and bough and cough and dough?
Others may stumble, but not you,
On hiccough, thorough, lough and through?
Well done! And now you wish, perhaps,
To learn of less familiar traps?
Beware of heard, a dreadful word
That looks like beard and sounds like bird,
And dead: it's said like bed, not bead –
For goodness sake don't call it deed!
Watch out for meat and great and threat
(They rhyme with suite and straight and debt).
A moth is not a moth in mother,
Nor both in bother, broth in brother,
And here is not a match for there
Nor dear and fear for bear and pear,
And then there's dose and rose and lose –
Just look them up - and goose and choose,
And cork and work and card and ward,
And font and front and word and sword,
And do and go and thwart and cart –
Come, come, I've hardly made a start!
A dreadful language? Man alive!
I'd mastered it when I was five!
